Valley Relics Museum
Located in Chatsworth at 21630 Marilla St., the Valley Relics Museum is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and is especially perfect for any history buff. Dedicated to preserving, gathering, and interpreting the San Fernando Valley history, you’ll be able to discover stories of those who influenced the region. Entrusted to a non-profit organization, the museum’s artifacts are vast and include photographs, postcards, clothes, automobiles, vintage neon signs, and bicycles from years past.
Rare documents are on display, and researchers can check for special access for conservation projects. Owner Tommy Gelinas has a knack for tracking down the most obscure of artifacts, and the little non-profit boasts a museum full of one of a kind items. Volunteer guides are on hand to help bring history to life. Kids especially love this museum that’s a little wacky and wholly regional.
Down in the Valley
Admission is always free, but donations are appreciated. It’s like stepping back in time when you walk through the doors. There’s a special nod to mid-century relics at this museum, with soda shop marquees and recognizable items from times past. From BMX bikes to vintage signs you may remember from decades ago in the Valley, there’s something for everyone.
